In the spring of 2022, I exhibited work in Saint Mary's Cathedral, a 12th-century cathedral in the medieval section of Limerick, Ireland. Responding to the specific features of various locations, I placed work within these spaces to resonate with their symbolic significance: “Daphne’s Choice” in the Leper's Squint, “Pilgrims’ Progress” in Arthur’s Quay, "His Master's Voice" in Lord Glenworth Chapel, and "Lamentation" in O'Brien Chapel. While the immense scale of its interior certainly affected my sense of self, its silent atmosphere sparked my interest in collaborating with Deaf community to add a performance element to my exhibit. To my good fortune, Limerick is home to Hands In Harmony Deaf Choir, and they agreed to stage a concert with me called “Silent Sounds” at the closing of my exhibition. Below are stills and video excerpts of that event.
