During my residency with TRIANGLE on Governors Island in New York in 2022, I used an abandoned colonel's home as a multifaceted theater space, in which visitors wander through the house in search of the unexpected.
Reflecting on the many ways context and meaning are intertwined, I installed work from my repertoire of existing paintings and sculptures that played with the meaning of a phrase like “Physical Education" through the personal and cultural lenses, such as Daphne's Choice and my Love and Sex series, and newly created works such as Diana and Modern Prometheus. To enhance the experience of being somewhere special, I installed blue bulbs in the passageway and room fixtures, and used the lights embedded in my sculptures to illuminate other spaces.
